Web design and web development for businesses

A business website needs to be clear, easy to use and shaped around what the company actually does. Here we explain how we work with design and development, and what goes into building a website.

01 / WEB DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

What does web design and development include?

Design and development belong together. A good-looking website isn't enough if visitors struggle to find information, and a site that works technically still needs to be clear and easy to use.

A website is made up of several parts that have to work together. Which features are needed varies from business to business, but the work can cover the following areas.

Planning content and page structure

We go through what information visitors need, which pages should exist and how the content should be organised. That might be a home page, service pages, a page about the company and contact details. The aim is for a visitor to understand the business quickly.

Visual web design

We shape the page layouts and work with colours, text sizes, spacing, images and other visual details. The design is built around the company's identity and the kind of information being presented, rather than assuming every business needs the same arrangement.

Responsive design for phone and desktop

A responsive website adapts its layout to the size of the screen. Menus, text, images and content blocks need to work on a phone, a tablet and a desktop. We account for readability, button sizes and navigation on smaller screens.

Features and ways to get in touch

Depending on the business, a site can include contact forms, clickable phone numbers, maps, image galleries, service overviews or links to external booking systems. Features are chosen based on what a visitor actually needs to be able to do.

Technical structure and SEO foundations

We work with clear headings, descriptive page titles, a logical page structure and links between related pages. We also take image sizes and the technical factors that affect how a site performs into account. Search engine optimisation is ongoing work, and a particular position in Google cannot be guaranteed.

Testing and launch

Before a site goes live we check navigation, links, forms and how pages display at different screen sizes. We also go through whether the content sits where it should and whether the site's core functions behave as intended.

How the work runs

STEP 01

Needs and content

We go through the company's services, audience, existing material and the features you want.

STEP 02

Structure and design

We plan the pages, the navigation and the visual direction.

STEP 03

Development and testing

The site is built and checked across different screens and browsers.

STEP 04

Launch

The finished site goes live after a review of content and functionality.

02 / WHO IS IT FOR?

Web design for small and medium-sized businesses

We help small and medium-sized businesses across different industries create and develop websites suited to their work, their needs and their goals. Whether a company is newly started, growing or already established, a clear website makes it easier to present services, products and the information that matters.

New businesses

For companies that need to establish their digital presence with a professional website.

Growing businesses

For operations that need more pages, new features or a clearer structure.

Established businesses

For companies that want to modernise an existing site and improve the user experience.

Businesses with specific needs

For operations that need tailored features, forms or other web-based solutions.

A new website, or modernising an existing one?

For a newly started company the work can mean building a clear digital presentation from scratch. Page structure, copy, design and features are then planned around what the business needs.

For a company that already has a website it can instead mean improving an older solution. Common areas to review are the mobile layout, navigation, readability, updated content and how services are presented.

If an existing site is being replaced, it also matters to review old web addresses and set up the right redirects, so visitors and search engines still reach the right pages after the change.

03 / QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Common questions about web design

What is the difference between web design and web development?

Web design is mainly about a site's appearance, structure and user experience. Web development is about building the technical solution and its features.

What does a responsive website mean?

It means the page layout adapts to different screen sizes so the content works on a phone, a tablet and a desktop.

Can an existing website be rebuilt?

Yes. Depending on the site's technology and condition, parts of it can be improved or a new solution can be built with updated structure and design.

Is SEO the same thing as web design?

No. Design and technical structure can create good conditions for SEO, but search engine optimisation also covers content, search intent, follow-up and continuous improvement.

Can the site include a contact form and a map?

Yes, those features can be added when they are relevant to the business. Exactly which features are needed is decided by the scope of the project.
